My son is a great student in every subject other than math. He has an avid interest in history and world culture and the sciences intrigue him. He loves to read and works on the school newspaper. He excels at nearly everything he does but his Achilles heel seems to be math. While he can do basic math with no problem, algebra and geometry throw him for a loop. I did not want this to hold him back so I decided to contact a State College tutor to see about having him tutored one on one in just this area. I was worried that as he developed further interests, his lack of understanding in math would hold him back from some of them. I explained my worries to the tutor who did agree with my assessment of the situation. I have noticed a remarkable improvement in his math skills and I am hopeful that this is the breakthrough he needed.
